Hello, hello, hello!
Welcome to the Lincoln Bloggers UK website. In June, Lincoln Bloggers UK turns three so it felt like it was time for the next step. A shiny new website and a blog that we hope to fill with lots of fantastic posts.
I thought I'd use this first post to share more about this wonderful community.
So, let's start at the very beginning - June 2020. A year that is etched on most of our memories and not for the best of reasons! After my freelance work quietened down during lockdown I had time to spare and decided to launch Lincoln Bloggers UK. It was an idea that had been bubbling for a while. I had spent 8 years living in London prior to moving to Lincoln, running my own lifestyle blog alongside my day job. My blog opened up so many opportunities - I received products to review and event invites regularly. In 2018 I moved up to Lincoln and I noticed that there wasn't a blogging community and local businesses just didn't seem to be working with bloggers and content creators. I set up our Instagram page and didn't know how it would go (fully expecting to close it down after a few days!), but to my delight, the page had so much support from the start and we had 20 names on the blogger database within a couple of weeks. Lincoln was definitely ready for it!
Our first big event
Our first big event was working with The Botanist on their VIP opening night in August 2020. They wanted 25 bloggers to come along to this special pre-launch evening and share the night on their social media pages. It was a great evening (despite social distancing being in full force) and also acted as a great launch for the Lincoln Bloggers community. Since then we, and the bloggers and content creators on the database have worked with a huge number of both local and national brands, all with a Lincoln presence.
We have also held blogger meet-ups which have been great fun and seeing genuine friendships form has been a huge highlight of starting this community. We now have over 300 Lincolnshire-based content creators on the database with niches covering everything from food to gardening and home renovations.
The opportunities that have come from this community have been incredible - we have tried delicious meals, visited pumpkin patches, worked with beloved Lincoln charities, tried axe throwing, been the first to try new menus and offerings, interviewed stars such as Jake Quickenden and have even been to gin school! There have also been features on both BBC Look North and BBC Radio Lincolnshire for us and content creators on the database - all of which have come through this community.
I'll finish with a few photos from the last three years. It's really exciting to see where we go from here and the website is a natural next step. Watch this space for lots more blog posts!
